One-year contract extension from 01 June 1988. Salary revised from the entry-level rate of Rs. 800 to Rs. 1,200 per month — the first documented salary revision after joining KCS as a CAD Draftsman Trainee on 2nd December 1987.

A landmark document — after two years as a contract Draftsman, E. Senthil Kumaran was formally absorbed into permanent employment as Junior Engineer (CAD), w.e.f. 01 June 1989. This letter marked his transition from a contractual to a confirmed employee of KCSL.

Issued on KCS letterhead, certifying that E. Senthil Kumaran has been working since 2nd December 1987, presently designated as Junior Engineer (CAD). Signed personally by Mr. S. N. Sripad — the Personnel Manager who had originally interviewed and selected him for the role.

After one year as a permanent employee, E. Senthil Kumaran was formally confirmed in service as Junior Engineer (CAD) with effect from 01 June 1990 — completing the standard probation period and securing full employment status at KCSL.

Official salary certificate confirming Employee No. 279, gross monthly salary of Rs. 2,121 and net take-home of Rs. 1,938. Documents the full compensation structure including allowances applicable at the time of confirmation.

Annual pay revision letter signed personally by Mr. S. A. Mahajan, General Manager — the head of the CADD & GIS Department whom Dr. Senthil Kumaran remembers as a "sincere manager." Basic salary revised to Rs. 1,280 w.e.f. 01 June 1991.

Fifth consecutive annual pay revision. Basic salary revised to Rs. 1,395 w.e.f. 01 June 1992, signed by S. A. Mahajan in his capacity as General Manager – Systems. This was the year when 62 voluntary night shifts were worked to accelerate professional growth.

A significant 3-page document — covering letter (2 pages) plus individual Compensation Details sheet. KCS introduced a company-wide "Pay for Performance" policy rationalising compensation to be in line with industry. Basic + DA revised to Rs. 2,320, with HRA Rs. 350, Conveyance Rs. 500, Adhoc Allowance Rs. 150. Gross total: Rs. 4,091 per month.

The first formal promotion in the CADD & GIS Department — from Junior Engineer (CAD) to Assistant Engineer, effective 01 June 1993. Basic salary revised to Rs. 2,660 per month. The culmination of six years of precision work, quality delivery, and technical excellence in the department.

Salary revision confirming the new pay range for the Assistant Engineer grade — Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 4,800. Signed by P. S. Manie, General Manager (HRD). This was the final salary letter in the CADD & GIS chapter, before the transfer to Marketing in November 1993.
